COMMUNITIES FIRST LLWYNHENDY

What is Communities First Llwynhendy?
The Communities First programme is a long-term strategy for improving the living conditions and prospects of people in the most disadvantaged communities in Wales. The programme seeks to ensure that the funds and support available from the Welsh Assembly Government and various other publicly funded agencies are targeted at the poorest areas. Communities First Llwynhendy are currently well into their 10 year strategy.

What does Communities First Llwynhendy do?
The Communities First project team aim to improve the quality of life for the residents of Llwynhendy by facilitating positive and sustainable change. In order to do this they focus on:
• Improving Education and Training
• Increasing Jobs and Business
• Developing an Active Community
• Enhancing the Environment
• Promoting Health and Wellbeing
• Tackling Crime and Community Safety issues

How does the project work?
Communities First Llwynhendy's aim is to build the capacity of all local groups and residents. Over the next 2 years the project will:
• deliver 6 newsletters a year
• assist 24 events projects
• enrol at least 50 people on the volunteer placements scheme
• have 6 organisations offering placements
• assist 10 people into employment
• set up a library of funding
• set up the community forum
• work with and encourage all local groups
• organise training courses for all local groups
• create and link a youth group and old age group to the partnership
